My Parents Prayed for Payback....

So I am thoroughly convinced that my vengeful parents have prayed for me to experience the payback of my childhood misdeeds.

For those who know me well, I was a tad "unbreakable" when it came to certain behaviors such as sucking my thumb, or staying in bed, or any other behavior that I was told I could not engage in any longer. If the word no was said to me, it really didn't mean much. And for the most part the threat and follow-through of any sort of discipline didn't seem to curb my tendency for behaving how I felt best. It's not that I didn't cry my eyes out or feel the severe consequences of my sin, I just lived in the moment so consequences didn't bother me until they were upon me like a wet blanket. My parents were consistent and loving....or so I thought. As they disciplined me, struggled with how best to punish certain Robinisms, and prayed for wisdom, I know they prayed for payback.

I am now living this payback in the form of my lovely two daughters. Lets just focus on the youngest though, who apparently saw my lifetime video footage before she was born so she could best duplicate my abuse towards my parents. Dear Glory. So sweet and loving and cuddly and....evil. Doesn't she understand that when I put her in her room for "rest" time, it's really so I can nap since I am so hugely pregnant that I exercise by getting up from the sitting position? Apparently not. To her rest time is a game to play with Mommy and Grace. Lets get out of bed, open my door and sneak down to my sister's room to steal her stuffed animals and run laughing hysterically to my room while my sister screams bloody murder and the neighbors knock on the door to ask my mom if everything is okay. Then after getting the appropriate discipline, lets just stay in bed for maybe 30 seconds before sneaking out again and tickle mommy while she sleeps on the couch. Then after more discipline, lets spend the next few minutes opening the door, see mommy standing there waiting for me, laugh, get disciplined, and repeat this process at least 12 times in a five minute time frame. After my mom tries to rig the door where I can't open it, lets spend the rest of my "rest" time screaming in outrage and then figuring out how to get out of my room anyways. FYI, this happens at bedtime too.

So thanks mom and dad, for loving me so much to inflict such malicious prayers towards your challenging child turned adult mother. Any suggestions? :)

September Fun

This Saturday we took a trip to the glorious "castle playground" after working all day on once again organizing our home that we have yet to fully move into. The girls had been asking all week if we could go to the playground a couple miles down the road from us that looks like a castle, thus the name given it by the girls. The most fun was had on the swings! We all had our turn (even mom). It was a great family outing of giggles and no tears or whining! Here are a few pics of the fun they had and one pic featuring the three girls.

Goodnight, Sleep Tight

Yesterday Stymie had Division staff duty where he is required to stay up for 24 hours and then gets to come home and sleep. Well, the girls were delighted to see their Daddy walk through the door this morning around 10 and were convinced that the day would be great fun with their Dad. I explained to them that he was very tired and needed to take a long nap before he could play. They then decided that they needed to take excellent care of their Dad by tucking him in, singing, and praying with him. They helped him into bed, pulled the covers up and realized that something very important was missing! Daddy didn't have any babies to sleep with! So, they graciously donated their most prized "babies" and tucked them in with Daddy to take a very long nap. Glory was especially concerned about her Dad and kept saying, "Daddy sleeping? I check him!" Then she would run down the hallway and try to open the locked door. After throwing herself down in frustration over not being able to see her Dad, she would yell, "HEY! HEY! MY DADDY! HEY! You open door!" Fun times for Daddy. Anyhow, he did finally get some much needed rest and the girls are happily coloring at the table with him at this very moment.

Middle Child Joys

And so it begins. The status of middle child and all the lovely trials of that particular birth order placement is being passed to our Glory. Today Grace says to me, "Mom, when are we getting rid of Glory?" I said we are not ever getting rid of Glory because she is part of the family and we love her. She replied with "We can't have two babies so when the new baby gets here we need to throw Glory away!" Again I rebutted by saying that when Molly gets here Glory gets to make the big step up to big sister and isn't that so cool that you both get to be big sisters? Grace looked at me with a furrowed brow and says, "There just is only room enough for one big sister and since I do a really good job and Glory hits, we should definitely throw Glory away." Then Glory proceeded to go around the house singing, "Throw me away, throw me away, I go in the trash, throw me away!". Poor Glory, she is so obviously scarred for life.

Joining In

I guess it's about time that I join in and start blogging. Maybe its because my mom and both of my older sisters are "myles" ahead of me in the technology age or its because I feel it will be easier to keep everyone updated when my third child arrives but at any rate, I am here. Until I get the hang of things, this will be a very boring page and I'm not that quick of a learner so bear with me as I slowly but surely get this blog up to rockin' status.
